Photos from my sisterfriend Carmen aka. Faya At the White House this week, President Obama is hosting makers of all stripes to present the ways they’re welding, programming, sculpting, building and teaching our way into the future. The program is called A Nation of Makers, and it coincides with the National Maker Faire in Washington, D.C.
Over 100 U.S. cities have taken a Maker Cities pledge, developing maker spaces, redesigning education along the lines of participation, STEM and civic participation, and engaging citizens in the co-creation of their cities. This effort will be expanded this year as cities work together in an emerging Open Innovation network to pursue these goals. All of this will be a centerpiece of announcements during the National Week of Making. In fact, organizers of this White House maker stuff tell us that Burning Man comes up often in their work as an example of some of the best aspects of making and the American experience. Burning Man is a federation of wildly diverse groups of people who come together to celebrate that diversity, the powerful and different personal expressions within it, and the shared values underlying all of it. It’s kind of like a microcosm of the United States that way. Burning Man and the U.S. share this element of experimenting with unprecedented models of community, which requires constant innovation and reinvention. Since our earliest days on Baker Beach, we’ve seen how that effort starts with the maker spirit. It’s inspiring to see that spirit catching on at the highest levels of government. Burning Man has been turning up its civic maker efforts lately, too. Burning Man Arts does more than provide grants for art projects in Black Rock City. It reaches out to communities globally that would never come to Burning Man and gives grants to kindred interactive civic art projects to catalyze new communities. AndBurners Without Borders sends our culture’s talented makers, builders and fixers into areas stricken by poverty or disaster to provide relief efforts. They help local grassroots movements solve their own problems with sustainable solutions. The good thing is …. there is no proper age or status to enjoy BM !!! Wow. Another gift for my Bday.
Thanks to @Lady Bee that I met on my exit from BRC. My blog is featured on the official newsletter of Burning Man this week ! This blog is open for continuing the discussion about Black People in Burning Man, I invite all readers to submit testimonies, questions, thoughts, suggestions. I started to receive great contributions on the blog. Some people being interested to join the African camp started to submit their applications ! Thanks to @Farai, 8 years BRC Burner, who shared with us his views of the festival http://farai.com/black-at-burning-man/ I've also been asked if there will be membership dues, camp meetings and duties, to this question, I can answer YES, there will be some sort of contributions asked for supporting the African camp's efforts. We will start meeting in a very few to organize and overview all of this. And I LOVED the post of @DustBunny Inc, 14 years Burner and Camp organizer. @DustBunny is willing to support our African Camp and to settle his long time camp beside ours !!! We already have willing neighbors ! Yay! It's gonna be great ! L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE. TOGETHER, WE ARE STRONGER ! "What you need, what you want, the playa will provide".
There are countless of books about the power of manifestation, or power of attraction : The Secret, Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tole. All those books are giving insights of the necessary state of being to experience in order to be able to manifest our thoughts, wishes and dreams.
I was raised by a deeply rooted spiritual mother who was a master of manifesting. She would speak about something and it will happen. She almost had the power to bend time, for what she needed or wanted was happening in her own timing. Some call it synchronicity, other serendipity, but I started wandering if my mother was a kind of witch or fairy.
I realized that I could too have access to this amazing spiritual technology.
My first trip to Burning Man is clearly a manifestation to me, as I kept talking about it and holding it tight near my heart. The universe finally granted me my wish. I left NYC full of joy and faith to do my fantastic voyage, and everything went smoothly, and beyond ! At Black Rock City, I realized that my power to manifest was emphasized. Yes, the saying is true, "what you need, the playa will provide". When 70000 people decide willingly to vibrate on love, sharing, respect, non-judgment, yes, miracles happen and multiply.
I stayed in those energies for almost a month after BM, continuing on manifesting humbly. Reality and everyday hardships created few disturbances that I had to recognize, to tame and finally to just let be. But I can now really FEEL in my body, in my soul, this place of being that open all possibilities and allow manifestation.
I can recognize it BECAUSE of BM. Because I felt it/lived it/with it/shared it/expressed it for a FULL WEEK, like if I attended a camp for LOVE and SOUL training , I am now fully aware of my divine connection with the universe. At the same time, it is easier for me to recognize my own energy disruptions and fix it immediately.
It feels so good to be supported by the Universe, to know it and to express gratitude for it. It's like living each day in bliss. I just celebrated my 4.0 Reload BDay, and all the friends who came called me back after the party to thank us, me, my friend Virginie who hosted the party in her house, and all my artists friends who participated. They noticed the level of LOVE present at the party, how cool was each of the guests, they were inspired by the singularity of each of them, inspired by the overall high & creative energy around. I guess my friends and I know how to bring this warm welcoming atmosphere in a party, in a meeting, a performance.
It truly starts with our own inner light. With our own eyes and heart.
Are we incline to judgment, starting with self ? 😈 Are we tolerant or accepting ? 😒/😔 Are we loving unconditionally ? 😊 Are we happy ? 😃 Are we grateful ? 😁
Something happened for me for my very first Burning Man 2014. I abandoned my heavy life luggages in the desert. It burnt with the Man and the Temple. I left all my sadness, my sorrows there. I parted from the shadows of all the deceased of my family. I freed myself from my own misconstruction, liberated myself from the fate of fake standards & falsified heritage.
I was reborn to my true self from BRC ashes. Like the phoenix.
4.0 Reload started way before my actual BDay.
My friends could feel it on my Bday party, I looked amazing, glowing, radiating ( thanks also to the long tan effect of Black Rock City's sunrays ! Our melanin LOVES & NEED IT !!! ).
Next year, I wish that 1/3 of the people who attended my BDay party will join our African Camp in Burning Man ! ( I think I made this wish when I blew the Bday cake's candles !!!! 😉 )
